That hack appeared to\nbe an artifact of the static instance of sAsyncChannel -- it\nwas not clear to WifiManager which context had permissions to\nsuccessfully create the messenger, so it was necessary to\nsilently fail the attempt especially since that attempt was\nmade in the constructor.
